Read Sheet Music Plus's complete. This is the greatest piece ever written for the sax. Saxos may bang on about Glazunov, Creston, Ibert (come on, get real if it was for Violin how many top guys would play it) but this is the one you'll obsess over. The opening bottom B that isn't. Near as important as we think, the life changing cadenza and those annoying triplets in the finale that you just can't quite fit in time.

Buy it.it's worth every second you'll spend on it. Only the Dubois concerto (especially 2nd movt. Last 4 notes) comes close. 24 of 47 people found this review helpful. Was this review useful?.

4 Naoki Location: CA Difficulty Level: Advanced. 2001-10-27 00:00:00.0 Bold and Beautiful but very hard. This piece combines beautiful melodies with extremely diffucult passages.

In fact, it is hard from the very first note. I'm a professional musician and I played this piece for my Master's recital in graduate school.

I'm proficient technically but my strong point is musicianship, so in that. Sense this piece was quite a challenge for me.

The technical passages kicked my butt. The cadence (cadenza) gives you no place to hide. The piano accompaniment is also incredibly hard and the best accompanist at my university had a hard time keeping up. It's a great piece but Ibert's Concertino da Camera is a somewhat similar piece and is much easier than this one. If you're up for the challenge, it IS worth playing. Give yourself lots of time!:) 26 of 54 people found this review helpful.
