When i bought my 1985 CF2 autosleeper it had 240v lights fitted to the ceiling in the van. I like the lights and fitting but wanted to hide the wiring that has been surface mounted. I want to conceal the wiring underneath the roof liner. To do this I need to take the high cupboards out and dont know how to get them out.has anyone removed this cupboards?
Are the window screws holding them in. I have tried to take them out before but there is something holding them in. I dont want to rive and tear and break something. All information most appreciated. Hi Phil Do we have a sales brochure section with images of the various models when they were first made like they have on 'that other site' that we don't mention?
It would be easy to copy and paste the image of the vehicle type to explain to the readers which model we have. As far as the cupboards go.that i can't get out.well my van is the autosleeper clubman with the solid fibreglass body. You say the cupboards may have been fitted from the outside Phil? What would I need to do to remove them? Would I need to take the windows out? I dont mind doing the strip if I know I could get them out.
I was thinking about refurbishing the whole inside of the van ie new upholstery and carpet.a modernisation upgrade so to speak. There's a place where you can have the doors and cupboard panels vinyl wrapped or i may even re-laquer or spray them a different colour. All a bit of expense I know but we love the van. Your advice is always appreciated.
Thanks moomoo. With GRP construction the norm is to bond timber and steel struts and braces into the lay-up of glass fibre panels to support the panels, strengthen apertures and provide attachment points. Start below floor level when looking for attachment points: the ends of the floor cross bearers are the logical place for main attachments and with a bit of luck bonded-in vertical struts will continue upwards so further attachment points may be found higher up the struts, maybe at roof level if there's no fittings between floor and roof, and probably around the window frames as well. In the roof/ceiling assembly look for roof sticks spanning across the van which tie together the side panels; skylight is the obvious place to find these along with noggins nailed or screwed between roof sticks to strengthen the aperture. Things like wardrobe and cupboard tops often are attached to roof sticks, usually with the ceiling panels fitted in between, the roof panel being fitted last.

So, go carefully until you find some attachment points: sickening to tear out something in pieces to find a few rusty screws that could have been removed or cut through using a thin disc grinder.
