The Overlord pack adds a little of everything that will keep the player interested and expand the Mass Effect story. The main feature of this The Overlord pack adds a little of everything that will keep the player interested and expand the Mass Effect story. The main feature of this content is that it contains a new planet to explore, both on foot and by a new hovercraft style Cerberus vehicle, the M-44 Hammerhead. While vehicles were present in the first game, Mass Effect 2 did slightly lack the planet free-roam, which is why the Overlord pack is a refreshing change. It also provides some natural obstacles that the player will need to overcome with the vehicle, such as crossing lava flows and reaching higher locations using steam vents.

There are four assignments overall, which does make this pack a slightly longer experience than the previous costing DLC's, around two hours of content, perhaps more depending on the difficulty. The assignments all follow on from each other and therefore all need to be completed in a set order, which is both gripping and intriguing, as each assignment leads you on to the next. There are several Renegade and Paragon dialogue options in the content which will allow the player to tailor make the decisions and outcomes of the final assignment.

The Overload DLC doesn't seem to be dependant on the player having completed the final story missions of the main game, so the content could be played before or after, depending on when the player may see fit to start it. Overall the pack is a great edition to the Mass Effect story and is a welcomed addition for any fan of the series. It has beautiful locations and buildings, new, and not recycled from earlier in the game. It is a shame there is only four short assignments as the free-roam planet and vehicle exploration could have led to several side-missions and quests, but all in all, a solid piece of content. Not worth the money in all honesty, but it's definitely not an awful DLC.

A good 4-5 hours if you do everything and explore and complete the achievements. The story itself for Overlord is actually pretty decent. Aria et scherzo. I won't get into it - but it's not some short joke like the Normandy Crash, it's fully realized and quite interesting. The soundtrack (noticeably not scored by Wall/ME2 crew) is actually pretty damn good and well composed, the ending piece in particular is great and fits the ending of this DLC very well. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Not a bad addition to the Mass Effect universe but nothing special either the Overlord DLC fills in a bit more of the back story of what Cerberus gets upto in its spare time, with a mission involving bailing a Cerberus cell out of the trouble they've got themselves into.

For added bonus, this DLC unlocks a couple of easter eggs in Mass Effect 3. Fun enough to play through if you love the Mass Effect universe, but you're not missing out on anything if you don't play it.

GAME INFO: BioWare has announced that they're ready to release the next premium downloadable content for Mass Effect 2 in June, this one dubbed 'Overlord.' The DLC will, according to Gamerzines, have Shepard and company battling through a laboratory to stop an enemy AI run amuck. It will be comprised of 'five levels set across one story on one planet,' according to BioWare's Casey Hudson, and will also apparently be less linear than past Mass Effect 2 DLC, allowing players to explore the new planet in the Hammerhead. What Overlord won't add, though, are any new companions: BioWare has confirmed that no more new squad mates will be introduced to Mass Effect 2 in any future DLC, making Kasumi - introduced in the last DLC bearing her name - the final Mass Effect 2 squad mate.
